It's better to encourage people who are interested in joining our email list to do so themselves at a sign-up form, such as this one, but sometimes you might find yourself needing to add a single record. This article describes the Quick Add New Contact feature.
Step-by-step guide
On the EveryAction home page in the Quick Lookup section, click Quick Add New Contact.
Enter the details that you know, such as name and email address, and click Save.
The page that loads is the new contact profile page. Find the Email section; change the Email Status to Confirmation Not Needed.
Add any appropriate Activist Codes. For instance:
Should this person receive action alerts? If so, add the Activism: Advocacy - Interest code.
Or, did this person contact you personally? If so, add the Communications - Personal Contact code.
IMPORTANT: We also need to add an origin source code, so we know how the person was added to the list (if no origin source code is added, one will be added to the record the first time the individual interacts with us, which will hide their actual point of origin).
Go to Create a List, and search for the person by name (that section is called "Name"). If we have more than one person with that name, you will have to add additional clauses to the search, such as email domain name, date created, etc, until your search returns one person.
Run the search;
Choose Bulk Apply from the buttons at the top;
In the Apply New Mapping dropdown menu, choose Apply Origin Source Code;
Select an appropriate Origin Source Code from the dropdown menu and click Next.
Click Finish at the top right corner, and then Finish again in the pop up box
Refresh the Bulk Upload Batches screen to confirm that the bulk apply was successful (For a single record, should say Created 0, Updated 1, Complete 1 with 0 Issues).
It may be easier to use the Bulk Upload feature, even for a small number of contacts, so that you don't have to manually apply the origin source code and activist codes.
